Aftermarket Antenna Install

Well I finally got tired of looking at the vacant antenna hole on the front right fender so I bought a cheapo exterior antenna to cover it up...it is completely non functional as I already have the Luv wired for a wireless antenna inside the dash. I cleaned up the original mount, installed the base, then slapped on the antenna mast..PRESTO!

Interior Just About Complete

OK---recovered seat, new carpet under seat, new front area vinyl mat, restored Kraco Radio CB, vintage KRaco XF-95 box Speakers, Dash cap and a ton of cleaning!!!!

Peep Mirror Install

The original drivers side mirror was broken so I took the base off and installed a vintage 1930s Peep mirror on the upper door frame....this is not welded on...it has an adjustable base which allows you to tighten it up to the door...solid as a rock and functional! Check it out..

Stripe Kit Which Will Eventually be on the Chevy Luv

Here is a drawing of the Stripe Kit which will eventually be on the Chevy Luv once it is repainted the stock blue color. I stumbled across this NOS kit and paid $5 for it...the stripes are all dried out but I am going to use them as a template for reproduction after the paint respray....Old School at its best. So far I have $475 invested in this father son project and it has come a long ways in just a few months. Low budget resto is fairly easy with these old trucks as parts are fairly plentiful on the net.

Roll in Bed Liner is Done

A few pictures of the Hercules (do it yourself) roll in bedliner. I finished this a couple of weeks ago but it has been so hot outside that I did not bother with pictures so here we are today...PRESTO! Bedliner is now done....looks a lot better than the rusty bed which took me weeks to wire wheel off...:)

drilling metal for install

OK---I do not care what J.C. Whitney says..this turbo net would not fit my Chevy Luv without modifications.....after modifying the length of the steel reinforcement bars at the top and the bottom it was time to drill 4 holes inside the tailgate lips on both side to get the plastic inserts in. After all 4 holes were drilled and inserts tapped in then presto chango...we now have a tailgate. It is not all that attractive but very functional...it beats spending hundreds of dollars on a stock tailgate which would have been beat up anyways...:)

Installing Turbo Net

As usual nothing simply snaps on...this Turbo net was the same way...the steel reinforcements were too long to fit inside the gate so I chopped one inch out of the reinforcements midway and redrilled the snap holes....loads of work to make it all work right. Here are a few starting pictures...

Father/Son resto Project: 1980 Chevy Luv

$50 Ebay find..set of 19080s slot mags. I sanded these wheels with 6 different grains of sand paper and then polished them out with a power ball and mothers metal polish. They now look brand new! Lots of work but well worth it.
