I havent updated my Chevy Luv site in a month..sorry about that...end of the semester havoc took up too much of my time. I will start updating at least once every two weeks. I am in the process of getting my 89 Taurus SHO up to excellent running condition before the beginning of next semster so that is taking up some of my time. Updates soon!

Snagged some Luv battery tie downs

Finally snagged a set of these OEM Luv battery tie downs from Chevyluv.com for $5! Excellent deal! Here is a picture of the repaint.

Restored Tailight Lenses

I restored the Taillight lenses today....sanded them with 2000 grit paper and then hit them with some Duplicolor wheel clear.....the lenses were very dull and had lost their color and after restoring the color is back and they look better than new!!!!

The Illusive Stock SPare Tire Crank Arm

At last! Behold! The original Chevy Luv spare tire crank arm...finally snagged one!

Bed Mounted Military Tire on VW Rim

This is a picture of the military 13" tire which I am going to mount on one of my 13" VW steel rims and put on the bed mount...this will look sharp and will fit better than the 14" tire.

SpareTire Mount Install

I finally have the spare tire mounted in the bed with the mount bolted in place...I had to cut two inches out of the main body and reassemble the mount but it was worth it...looks great! I even put a vintage Corbin 1922 Padlock on it for the classic look! I found out that the 14 tire/wheel combo is too tall for the mount so I bought 2 New Old Stock 13" military tires which I am going to mount to a trailer wheel for the Luv bed....I will mount the 14" wide whitewall up under the truck since it is too big. I like the look thus far. :)

Rear Frame Bracket Cleanup

I finally got the NOS Broadway whitewall tire mounted on the spare tire rim I refinished...looks good! I need to clean the whitewall up some but this picture shows the results. I also got the spare tire mount for the bed today from UPS and of course it will have to be modified to fit. I am going to have to cut two inches out of the main support and re-weld the upper mount location back on. It will look rocking when it is done though! Pictures to come soon of the spare tire mount.

I had some extra paint left over so I hit the spare tire chain..:)

Unsightly rear end? Then Hack it!

Well I finally got tired of looking at those ugly steel bumper mount arms that someone had welded on the Luv so it was time to chop those puppies off. I snagged a hack saw at Target for $3.00 and came home and took care of the unsightly arms. It took me 1 hour to hack though 1/4 inch steel but I got them off. Cleaned up the remainder up under the truck and hit it with some flat black Rustoleum....looks way better! Who says that a hack saw and a little brute force can't take care of a problem??? ....Pictures of the crime scene....

Always another project..1930s bakelite steering knob

Finally found a cool bakelite steering wheel knob which will fit the Luv. It needs some restoration on the base metal so I will have to take care of that before I install. I am going to sand all the surface rust off and then most likely paint the base black. I like the butterscotch looking knob...nice! This is a before picture....resto pics coming soon!

Major Buffing on the Front

I was looking at the front end and cab paint today and decided to buff it with a high speed orbital polisher and hit it with some polish wax and what a difference it made! I thought I would have to repaint the entire truck but after completing this task I am pleased with the results. The only panels I will have to repaint on the Luv are both exterior sides of the bed and the passenger side front fender...that will save me a fortune! I do not care if the paint does not perfectly match....it is not a show truck...just want to make it look better and functional...Thumbs up!!!!

Repainted Rear Leaf Springs

I sanded the rear leaf springs down and hit them with some flat black rustoleum paint...they look much better now!

Old Toyo Tire

Does anyone know the date this tire was produced?...old Toyo Tire which is being replaced with a NOS Broadway tire. The tire is no good..will no longer hold air...dry rotted!

2nd Spare Mount

I might mount an extra spare tire standing up in the bed right behind the driver...other side in the picture from where the tire currently is. I have sourced a spare tire bed mount from a '55 Jeep truck and might use it to mount an extra spare. I will have one spare under the truck and one in the bed. I like it....its different! :) This is a picture of what it might look like.

It was time to fix the ignition tumbler. It looked as though someone had disassembled it at one point in time...go figure??? I sourced another ignition switch and it came the wiper switch and housing to boot! Here is an disassembly picture of the extra parts.

Front of Wheel Shot

HEre is a picture of the front of the wheel after loads of sanding, finishing, and re-spray of Rustoleum white. I didnt worry about the old rotted out tire as that will be taken off anyways and a 3 inch white wall installed. Looks better!

I took the spare tire out from under the Luv to continue my frame work and the spare look horrendous. I took the old wire wheel to it and hit it with some white wheel paint that I have had on the shelves forever! This is the before picture...

Removing a Luv Bed

For all those trying to figure out where the mounting bolts are to remove the Luv bed...check out the PDF in the following link. If you want to freshen up your bed frame then taking it off is an option although I am just leaving my own...not trying to make it perfect...just make it look and function better.

Working the Frame

Cleaning up the Luv frame some with Rustoleum flat black..lots of sanding here to get the surface clean. Not perfect but looks 100% better! Sorry for the picture...it was hard to get a decent shot with my camera.

Ash Tray Resto

The front of the ash tray needed a fresh coat of paint on it since it looked all dried up...I painted it with a can of OEM return to black vinyl paint.....PRESTO! Looks brand new and blends in with the rest of the dash now. :)

After rear axle is painted

Sanded, sanded, sanded the rear axle with a sanding block to remove dirt and light scaly rust....then hit it with some flat black rustoleum...looks way better. I decided that I am going to repaint the entire frame underneath since it is easy access and since it would look much better than the faded scaly brown it is now. Check out the rear axle...

Rusty Crusty rear end

NEw Project.....I a tired of looking at my crusty rear axle since the rear bumper is missing so I decided to repaint it with some flat black rustoleum. Here is a before shot.
